The consortium promotes and supports research initiatives and projects to increase knowledge on characteristics of quality extra virgin olive oil and its benefits in terms of nutritional and health, as well as the best production, processing and storage techniques.

Assuring consumers and operators constantly improved extra virgin olive oils in terms of quality depends greatly on the close collaboration between the scientific community and that of production, in order to develop more effective practices and tools to improve the production process.

The extraordinary nutritional and health benefits of extra virgin olive oil, as demonstrated by scientific research, need to be widely publicized among consumers and operatorsand constantly enriched with new information.

To achieve this, the consortium works with researchers to define new programmes and to disseminate the results of scientific debate, so as to extend the culture of extra virgin olive oil through the whole production chain, right up to the consumer.
